Midwestern Christmas

I made it back from another great semester at CalArts to spend the holidays in Indiana. I'm always excited to come home to be with friends and family, walk the old woods again, hopefully ice skate on the lake, which just froze overnight.

A merry, Ent-ish Christmas from the MidWest

Gila Joe

A montage assignment I did for Dan Hansen's Layout class. It's based off an illustration I made last year about a guy who rides a giant gila monster.

48 Hour Film 2012

Here's the 48 hour film for this year. I animated it with watercolor illustration, and it worked pretty well. John did the voices...

The theme this year was "Eye"

Second Year Film

This year, we're expected to begin conceptualizing our films at the beginning of the first semester. My film is going to be an adaptation on the momma's boy concept I made over the summer, (you can see it HERE) but the story is going to take place in the late twenties/early thirties, pre-depression.

How does that work? We'll have to wait and find out...

A series of story gags I did for Steve MacLeod's story class. Lots o' fun...

One more "gag"...

Moving Day (Tahoe Trip 2012)

As a last minute excursion before I had to head back the CalArts, my uncle took my cousin and I up to Tahoe for a few days. While we were up there, we hiked Mount Rose which was a beautiful twelve mile trip. I did some sketches on the mountain and fleshed out a story while once I got back to school.

Mobile Homes

Towards the end of my summer back home in Indiana, I spent a day drawing/painting some landscapes out in my backyard. I put a weird little character in and made a story around him.

Now summer's over and its goodbye to the Midwest, but only for a while...

Sir Alfred of Anchovy

I took a storyboarding class this summer, which really helped with my boarding/storytelling. One of my favorite stories I did was Sir Alfred of Anchovy, which was for the hero-villain assignment.

Sir Alfred goes on a quest to save his vacuum-packed
comrade from the clutches of the nefarious shark knight.

Cheating Death

One week's assignment was to have the Grim Reaper break up with his/her significant other... This is how I tried to solve the problem...
